Solangon Forest

Garden

In 2025 we started planting mango, papaya, banana, soursop, custard apple, tamarind, durian, avocado, jackfruit, breadfruit, guava, cacao, kalamansi, pomelo, grape fruit, santol, passion fruit, black pepper, marang, mabolo, starfruit, star apple, pine apple  and more.

Time will show which species grow well and bear fruit on these alkaline limestone-based soils. We are adding vermicast to help manage the pH.

This shrub land measures ~1.5 ha. Before trees and shrubs were harvested for firewood, posts, and leaves for livestock fodder. We have now fenced the area and tugas/molave and other native trees and bushes are quickly growing back.
